Roman Kowalchuk, MD
I grew up primarily in Rochester, New York, developing interests in medicine and engineering at a young age. I then completed my undergraduate studies in biomedical engineering at Duke University and medical school at the University of Virginia.
At Mayo Clinic, I have greatly enjoyed the opportunity to expand my clinical understanding and work on a range of research projects. I am especially passionate about clinical trial design and developing novel prognostic and stratification tools to help guide treatment decision-making. These efforts have often incorporated more involved statistical methods, such as recursive partitioning analysis and Markov models. Through these approaches, I hope to leverage data in new ways to help individualize patient selection of the optimal treatment.
