CL 01 - ASTRO Communities Lounge Program - Global Cancer Prevention: An Interactive Conversation on Vaccine Equity
MODERATOR(S)
Oluwatimileyin Ojo, MD - Northwell Health
session DESCRIPTION
This interactive, community lounge-style gathering brings together a small group of oncology professionals to discuss one of the most critical and under-addressed opportunities in global cancer prevention: vaccine-based cancer prophylaxis. In an intimate setting (5-30 attendees), we'll explore real-world disparities in HPV and hepatitis B vaccine access, uptake, and education—issues that disproportionately affect underserved populations in the U.S., Latin America, and other low-resource settings. Rather than a formal lecture, this session invites conversation. Attendees will engage directly with global oncology experts in a dynamic, discussion-driven format designed to encourage storytelling, knowledge sharing, and problemsolving. We'll examine barriers—cultural, economic, and systemic—and brainstorm equitable strategies to improve vaccine delivery, community engagement, and provider-driven advocacy. The community lounge setting offers a unique space to reflect and connect. Guided prompts and live polling via ARS will shape the conversation in real time, ensuring the dialogue is inclusive, meaningful, and tailored to participant interests. Whether you're looking to implement change in your clinic, lead community-based interventions, or shape policy, this session offers inspiration, actionable ideas, and a collaborative network of likeminded colleagues.
