session DESCRIPTION
This session is designed to address the significant gap in formal financial literacy training within medical education. It aims to provide attendees with a comprehensive foundation in personal finance and wealth building, focusing on concepts most relevant to their lives and careers. The series is structured into three distinct and actionable sections. It begins with Foundational Finances, covering core financial principles, common account types, and essential planning strategies. It then transitions to Protecting Assets, which emphasizes risk mitigation through various forms of insurance (such as disability and life insurance) and basic estate planning. Finally, the program concludes with Growing Net Worth, offering an in-depth guide to sound investment strategies, including the benefits of index funds, and outlining the path to Financial Independence, Retire Early (FIRE). The entire session is built on the core principle of wealth building: spend less than you earn, invest the difference with diversification, and remain patient over time.
