EDU 07 - Radiation Resistance and Metabolic Reprogramming
MODERATOR(S)
Claire Vanpouille-Box, PhD - Weill Cornell Medical College
session DESCRIPTION
This educational session will focus on the metabolic reprogramming induced by radiation that contribute to treatment resistance. Studies that will be presented will show that metabolic rewiring actively participates to radiation resistance by influencing the tumor microenvironment and anti-tumor immunity. Specifically, radiation therapy influences lactate, glucose/serine as well as lipid metabolic programs to cope for genotoxic stress in multiple types of cancer ranging from adenocarcinomas to glioblastomas. Understanding how metabolic flexibility in response to RT promotes resistance holds great promises to uncover novel actionable targets to overcome radio-resistance and promote anti-tumor immunity.
learning objectives
- Upon completion of this live activity, attendees should have a comprehensive overview of the various metabolic programs that can participate to radiation resistance.
- Upon completion of this live activity, attendees should be able to identify actionable targets that could mitigate radiation resistance and induce anti-tumor immunity.
