EDU 16 - Nasal Cavity and Paranasal Sinus Tumors: A Multi-Disciplinary Discussion

08:00am - 09:00am PT

MODERATOR(S)

James Bates, MD - Emory University

session DESCRIPTION

The management of patients with nasal cavity and paranasal sinus tumors is challenging and constantly evolving. It often requires true trimodality care involving radiation oncology, otolaryngology and medical oncology, along with a variety of different supportive services. These tumors are challenging to treat even for high-volume providers specializing in head and neck cancer as they often place providers at the edge of the therapeutic window of surgery and radiation. We will discuss the most recent advances in the field from a multi-disciplinary setting including a radiation oncologist, medical oncologist and skull base surgeon to inform the audience of the most critical recent updates in the field to optimize the management of this challenging-to-treat patient population.

learning objectives

  1. Describe the role of neoadjuvant chemotherapy in patients with nasal cavity/paranasal sinus tumors.
  2. Explain the value of advanced radiation techniques in the treatment of patients with nasal cavity/paranasal sinus tumors.
  3. Discuss the surgical approaches for and management of nasal cavity/paranasal sinus tumors and how that may impact subsequent adjuvant treatment.
