PRO 06 - People and Software: Tools that Make Clinic, Treatment Planning and Delivery More Efficient
MODERATOR(S)
Avani Rao, MD - Radiation Oncology Associates of the National Capital Region
session DESCRIPTION
This session will examine contemporary radiation oncology clinic structures and evaluate strategies to enhance productivity through innovative staffing models and optimized use of technology. It will explore evidence-informed approaches to integrating advanced practice providers into radiation oncology practice, with particular attention to their roles in follow-up care, survivorship management and clinical workflow optimization. The session will also present an example of an optimized clinical model that leverages automation and cross-trained personnel to promote efficiency, standardization and safety across a multi-modality treatment planning environment.
learning objectives
- To critique current clinic structures and propose enhancements that align with evolving technology and workforce needs.
- To identify opportunities for expanding Advanced Practice Provider (APP) roles in radiation oncology, including follow up, survivorship and clinic workflow.
- To implement a clinic-specific, role-based treatment planning workflow that blends targeted automation (scripting, AI) with expanded MPA duties and cross trained dosimetrists to enhance operational efficiency in treatment.
