Yogesh Kumar, PhD, is a Postdoctoral Fellow at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. His research focuses on artificial intelligence-driven medical image analysis and radiotherapy informatics, with an emphasis on clinical decision support, treatment evaluation, workflow automation, and automated quality assurance. His current work includes medical image segmentation, analysis of radiation treatment plans and clinical trial datasets, and agentic artificial intelligence applications in radiation oncology. Dr. Kumar earned his PhD in Engineering with a specialization in Biomedical Instrumentation from the Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research–Central Scientific Instruments Organisation in Chandigarh, India. He also holds an MTech in VLSI Design and a BTech in Electronics and Communication Engineering. Before joining MD Anderson, he was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where his research encompassed adaptive radiotherapy, medical image processing, automated segmentation, and the integration of radiotherapy contours with follow-up imaging. Dr. Kumar received the Mary Ann Harvard NextGen Scholar Award from the O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center and previously received research fellowships from the Indian Council of Medical Research and the University Grants Commission. His peer-reviewed publications span radiation oncology, medical image analysis, artificial intelligence, biomedical instrumentation, and noninvasive physiological monitoring.
