session DESCRIPTION
The Medical Student Workshop is offered each year on the first day of the ASTRO Annual Meeting. Open to all medical students attending the Annual Meeting, this workshop gives students the opportunity to discover what life is really like as a radiation oncology resident; hear directly from program directors and residents about standing out on your application; demystify the match process with tips on ERAS, interviews and rank lists; ask candid questions about intern year and the transition to residency, and network with future colleagues.
learning objectives
- Describe the structure and expectations of radiation oncology residency training, including intern year, clinical responsibilities and day-to-day life as a resident.
- Identify key strategies for successfully preparing a competitive radiation oncology residency application, including ERAS components, interviewing and rank list decision making.
